Dr. Senthil Thyagarajan is a renowned stem cell scientist and currently holding position as Laboratory and Operations Director for NCORD Biotech Limited, India, which is joint venture partner for Novo Cellular Medicine Institute. Earlier, he has been a Postdoctoral Scientist at Abbott Pharmaceuticals, Ludwigshafen, Germany and Max Planck Institute of Neurobiology, Munich, Germany, with particular focus on Stem cell biology, Cellular Assays and developmental neurobiology, respectively. He is an accomplished, dynamic professional with more than 8 years of experience conducting high-level scientific research. At Abbott Pharmaceuticals, Dr. Thyagarajan was part of the StemBANCC programme, a 5-year research project that involves academic and industry partners across 11 countries, funded by the Innovative Medicines Initiative (IMI) and has contributed to the development of the human iPSC derived neural stem cells drug discovery platform.

Dr. Thyagarajan holds a PhD in Neurobiology from the Max Planck Institute for Brain Research, Frankfurt, Germany with rich experience in Stem Cell Biology, Cell culture techniques and Molecular biology, Bacterial genetics, Microbiology, Protein biochemistry-expression studies, Gene therapy and viral vector generation. His work has been published in International peer-reviewed top Journals and has presented his work in various National and International conferences. Dr. Thyagarajan’s keen interest in clinical and translational research has associated him to regenerative medicine.

Besides his research calibre, he is motivated by the challenges to improve business models for science-driven ventures. At NCORD, he is a proactive leader and team player integral to implementation and efficient running of numerous verticals including private cord blood banking, chain of Blood banks and transfusion centres and a R&D Centre for therapeutic cellular product development division.
